Show up,
Shape policy.
Change is possible only when we take action together. Whether you have five minutes or want to dive in for the long haul, this is how you can influence the 2026 legislative session.
Testimony is most effective when it's coordinated.
When many voices speak to the same bill at the right moment, each sharing a different angle, a different story, a different reason to care – legislators take notice.
When you join the Public Policy workgroup, your testimony becomes part of a collective effort that's harder to ignore than any individual action.

How it works
The Hawaiʻi State Legislature meets every year from January through early May. During that window, your testimony can directly influence which bills pass.
During the legislative session, we track bills on issues we believe we should and can influence.
When you join our Public Policy Action Group, you’ll get an email alert when a hearing is scheduled on one of those bills. We share the bill summary, talking points, and a direct link to submit testimony on the Capitol website.
If you commit to consistently speak up and show up, we make it easy for you to take action when it can make a difference.

FAQ
Do I need any prior experience or knowledge?
None at all. Before you get started, we’ll ask you to watch the replay of our 2026 Public Policy kickoff session: it walks you through how everything works.
You will also need to register on the Capitol website, so you can submit testimony directly on there.
Our team is available to answer any questions you may have, now or once you join.
How much time does this take?
Submitting testimony takes about 20 to 30 minutes a day.
During the legislative session (January through May), you will receive multiple emails every week. Each alert will include a clear deadline so you know exactly when action is needed.
During an active week, you might spend several hours doing this. You only act when there’s a hearing on an issue we track, so it varies.
If you don’t have that kind of time, you can subscribe to our newsletter instead – and hear about other ways you can take action.
What if I need a break?
No problem. You can adjust your email preferences directly from the bottom of any email notification if you’re going on vacation or need some time off.
