State Bill HB1875 has cleared two House committees and is now before the JHA committee .
- 2/11/26: Passed out of two House committees (Health and CPC) with amendments
- 2/18/26: Passed "2nd Reading" in the House and was referred to the JHA committee
The bill expands Hawaii's existing shield law to protect gender-affirming care providers from out-of-state penalties. 180 voted in support, 26 in opposition. Several advocates including Abby Simmons of DPH Stonewall Caucus and Renee Rabb of DP Hawaii County District 4 travelled to testify in person.
