Lot of activities with gun safety this week. Six bills to buyback firearms, increase awareness on gun safety, and requiring mandatory minimum imprisonment advance (see Gun Safety Daily Update).

- HB2062 HD1 (GVPO Enforcement Funding) – Passed JHA with amendments on 2/5/26 (1 No vote from Rep. Garcia); Passed 2nd Reading on 2/18/26 and referred to FIN
- HB2414 HD1 (Penal Code Amendments) – Passed JHA with amendments on 2/5/26; Passed 2nd Reading on 2/13/26 and referred to FIN
Senate Bills:
- SB2503 SD1 (Gun Buyback Program) – Passed PSM as SD1 on 2/10/26 and passed 2nd Reading
- SB2575 (Increase Penalties/Mandatory Minimums) – Passed PSM with amendments on 2/11/26
- SB2721 (Penal Code Amendments) – JDC recommended the measure be passed with amendments on 2/18/26

Bills to ban assault firearms had so much opposition during the 2025 legislative session and we really need to get SB2734 pass this year.
